Opening Bonspeil
We had a fun opening bonspiel on Tuesday 25th September 2018 at 10am. Nine of our members split into three teams and took turns to play each other or use a spare sheet to practice, this being the first time back on the ice for most of us.
Our winning team was Christine Furey, Pamela McTaggart and Ann Hutchison who were presented with some homemade jam by our new secretary, Clare McCormick.
Our morning was topped off with a soup and sandwich lunch at the ice rink and we presented Betty Drummond with a cake to mark her stepping down from curling – she is still an honorary member though.
End of Term Bonspiel
We enjoyed an end of term fun bonspiel at Greenacres Curling Rink on Tuesday 27th November. Being a little early to feel Christmassy, a crazy hat was added to the dress code.
We had some fun on the ice with special rules for each end – silent skip, no sweeping, no skip etc. We finished off with a mystery rule for the last end which turned out to be the stones NOT in play counted for the score – threw some of us.
Congratulations to the winning team – Pamela McTaggart, Joan Boag and Aileen Howie.
We rounded off the occasion with a fantastic buffet, secret Santa and a raffle. A great chance to catch up with some of our non playing and past members too.
